Choco Cookie Dough Dip: Vegan , SF, GF // Just A Veg


Just a quick easy recipe for you this week!

If you’ve been in the world of crazy health foods recently you have probably heard the words ‘chickpea cookie dough’ and ‘chocolate hummus’ flying around. The thing is, these healthy swaps can actually taste pretty good! Making your own healthy desserts not only saves money but you also eliminate packaging/processing, and you know exactly what’s going in your body.


Mindfulness is super important when it comes to food, because so often we see words like ‘superfood’, ‘low calorie’, ‘low fat’, ‘low carb’, etc and assume health when in reality, INGREDIENTS MATTER MORE. You can eat a granola bar with cane sugar and preservatives but it will be lower calorie, carbs, and fat that the bar made out of dates, nuts, and seeds, which is less processed and has more nutrition. A good rule of thumb is if you can’t read it, don’t buy it, because it’s probably not good.

I have found making my own chickpea cookie dough/chocolate hummus combo has helped me eliminate the ingredients I don’t want in my food, especially cane sugar/refined sugar. Stay tuned for next weeks post, where I will talk more about sugar and sugar alternatives!

This Chocolate Cookie Dough Dip is more doughy that hummus but workable enough to put on toast, fruit, rice cakes, or even rolled into little energy bites! Its super simple, only requires a blender and a few basic ingredients!


Ok, lets get onto the recipe!

Choco Cookie Dough Dip

Total Time: 20 minutes



1 can chickpeas

3 tablespoons tahini

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1/3 cup dairy free chocolate chips melted with 2 tablespoons coconut oil

1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 tablespoon cacao powder

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

1 teaspoon vanilla



  1. Drain and rinse your chickpeas, pulling the ‘skins’ off the outside. This helps make a smoother texture for the dip. You don’t have to get the skins off every chickpea, just spend a few minutes getting off as many as you can
  2.  Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. You will have to stop/restart multiple times, scraping the sides of the blender
  3.  Transfer the mix into a container and refrigerate.
  4. Enjoy on toast, fruit, or however else you would like!
