4 Summer Smoothies (Vegan, Refined Sugar Free) // Just A Veg

Sorry for the late post this week. I have been busy traveling!

Today I wanted to share 4 amazing smoothie recipes in preparation for the hot summer days. Smoothies are a great way to get nutrients in, cool off, and hydrate! These recipes are all very different, some are sweet, others are more low sugar, but all of them are vegan, refined sugar free, and super healthy! So, let’s jump right in!

Smoothie 1: Tropical Paradise

This smoothie is fresh, fruity, smells amazing (like the tropics, ok!), and tastes dang delicious. With a base of banana and pineapple, accented with coconut cream, you can’t really go wrong with this tropical dream (see what I did there 😉 ) On top of that, it is SO THICK AND CREAMY- YES PLEASE!

Ok, here’s the recipe:

1 cup frozen pineapple

1/2 frozen banana

1 1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk (more/less for thinner/thicker texture)

1.5 Tablespoons coconut cream (scoop off top of a can of coconut milk)

1 teaspoon lime juice

1 teaspoon chia seeds (for omega 3 and fiber boost!)

Directions: Simply blend all ingredients together, adding more milk if you want a thinner smoothie.

Smoothie 2: Avo-Blueberry Cream

This smoothie is fantastic for my low-sugar, keto, or paleo friends. Or anyone, really. It honestly isn’t very sweet, which I have actually been enjoying. The avocado gives the creaminess (Like, OMG creamy), and the blueberries give the flavor and beautiful color. Avocado is also a great source of healthy fat, this smoothie fills me up all the way to lunch!

1/3 – 1/2 avocado (depending on size)

1 cup frozen blueberries

1 ice cube

1 cup oat milk (extra creaminess!)

2 teaspoons hemp seeds (more omega 3)

2 teaspoons flaxseeds (even more omega 3)

Directions: Do I even need to say it? Just add to a blender and blend away!

Smoothie 3: Power Up PB

This smoothie is amazing post workout, as it has the protein boost from the protein powder and peanut butter. It’s loaded with healthy fats and fiber, and man, it tastes like literal ice cream. Sweet, thick n’ creamy, and all things delicious.

1 frozen banana

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1.5 Tablespoons Peanut Butter

1 Scoop of your favorite sugar free plant based protein powder

1 Tablespoon rolled oats

2 Tablespoons cacao nibs

2 teaspoons hemp seeds

2 teaspoons flaxseeds

dash of cinnamon

Directions: Blend, sip, and smile.

Smoothie 4: Triple Berry Choco Bliss

First of all, let’s just appreciate the beauty of this smoothie. I mean, this color is just gorgeous. It also happens to be an antioxidant powerhouse due to our friends the berry family, and is super light and refreshing. It has a bit of tanginess, a hint of sour, and a whole lot of yum. This smoothie also happens to not be super sweet, so it you need a sweet smoothie, there are a few options:

  • add another 1/2 frozen banana
  • add 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • add one tablespoon raw honey

1 cup berry mix (or, if you don’t have that, here’s the breakdown: 1/4 each of frozen blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, + 4 frozen strawberries)

1/2 frozen banana

1.5 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 Tablespoon hemp seeds

2 teaspoons cacao powder

That’s it!

Directions: Blend up and enjoy 🙂

I hope you all love these smoothies as much as I do! If you have any questions/suggestions, drop in the comments below! See ya next week!
